As part of the ongoing Safer Newcastle campaign, the Newcastle-under-Lyme BID team will be joining partners from Newcastle-under-Lyme Borough Council and Staffordshire Police every third Thursday of the month at the Women’s Safe Space on the Ironmarket.
We are aware that our town centre has seen an increase in crime and ASB resulting from a combination of government budget cuts, a decrease in policing resources, an increase in anti-social behaviour and shifting policing objectives.
As part of our business plan, the BID aim to make security investments that align with what our BID fee payers demand and make streets safer in Newcastle-under-Lyme.
Taking on board feedback from local businesses and the public, the Safer Newcastle Drop-In Sessions have been launched to provide a one-to-one opportunity for businesses and the public to come along and discuss all aspects of safety & crime in the town centre and learn more about what is currently being done and what is planned from a partnership perspective.
As a collective, we are already taking steps to help resolve and tackle issues raised from previous feedback sessions; however, we also know that there is more to be done, and we want to ensure we are best representing those who utilise Newcastle-under-Lyme regularly.
It is also an opportunity to discuss current BID-funded initiatives that fall under the Safer Newcastle campaign, including enhanced CCTV delivery, Town Centre Security Marshalls, and Women’s Safe Space.
The first Safer Newcastle Drop-In Session will be taking place on Thursday, 15th June, between 9:30 and 12:00.

If you have concerns about crime or ASB behaviour within the town, please continue to utilise online reporting tools such as the Staffordshire Police website and the council’s ASB email reporting scheme; all of which can be found on our Key Contacts page.
