This May, Sophie Davies from Il Capo Barbiere on Bridge Street, Newcastle-under-Lyme will be walking the Pennine Way, a 268 mile journey to raise money for mental health charity, Mind.
“Mental health issues are something close to me and something I see often” she says.
I’ve raised money for Mind previously, but haven’t had the chance to do so since Covid, so I’m glad to get back to it!”
This time, she’s taking on a massive challenge to make a significant impact.
“I thought taking on such a big challenge would hopefully raise a good amount of money and challenge me personally, both mentally and physically.”
The Pennine Way is renowned for its demanding terrain, stretching 268 miles through some of the UK’s most stunning landscapes. Sophie aims to complete this trek in about two weeks and is a challenge that understandably requires immense preparation and determination.
How has she prepared for the challenge? Sophie has been hitting the gym with a tailored plan from a personal trainer and has additionally spent the past year trekking across Wales and Scotland, building up her endurance and strength.
Sophie’s journey isn’t just a personal one, it’s a call to the community to support a worthy cause. Donations to her fundraising campaign for Mind will help provide support and resources for those struggling with mental health issues.
“Every contribution, no matter how small, helps,” Sophie emphasises.
