The team behind the highly successful monthly Castle Artisan Market are bringing a special bank holiday extravaganza to be held on The Stones on Monday 30th August between 10am and 3pm.
A day filled with family fun, the event will feature 55 local makers, bakers and creators showcasing the talents of local artisans, free family focused activities such as live music, free face painting and arts workshop for children, balloon modelling plus poetry readings from local legend Nick Degg and the meandering musings of beloved storyteller Alan Barrett.
North Staffordshire Stormtroopers will also be out patrolling the area and collecting much-needed funds for local greyhound and lurcher rescue charity Greyhound Gap and Stanworth’s Fun Fayre will also be attending with small rides aimed at keeping the little ones entertained while the adults soak up the festival vibes and enjoy perusing the many stalls.
Featuring international street food from around the world, freshly ground coffee from Piccoloco Café served from their quirky Piaggio Ape van plus cocktails, fizz and mocktails courtesy of The Fabulous Fizz Bar, a lovingly maintained vintage Citroen van that doubles as a mobile cocktail bar, the aim of the event is to celebrate all that is good from the surrounding area and to invite people to get a real flavour of the talents that exist locally.
The event will also include an array of familiar traders such as the unique stylings of Stokie ceramics and giftware creator Scruffy Little Herbert and the delicious culinary creations of Powells Pies plus will introduce ethically produced beauty products from Wriggly Tin Soap Co. and purveyors of craft beers, ciders, wines and spirits, Wilding Beer & Cider amongst other local artisan stallholders.
Castle Artisan Market co-host and organiser, Mike Davies said, “We’ve been blown away at just how popular the Castle Artisan Market has been since its inception last year, so we wanted to do something to celebrate that success in collaboration with Newcastle-under-Lyme BID who have been instrumental in helping to set up this Bank Holiday event.
By working together, we’ve put together a unique day out in the heart of our home town so that everyone can enjoy a little locally produced retail therapy, international street food and drinks, local artists and plenty of free fun activities for the kids after months of restrictions and lockdowns.”
With free parking available at all council run car parks each Sunday, visitors can come and enjoy the day safe in the knowledge that hand sanitiser stations and a one-way system will remain in place on the day to keep both traders, entertainers and visitors safe.
